Stuff Clam Nigiri

Stuff clam nigiri is a type of sushi that is made with a clam that has been stuffed with a mixture of vegetables and seafood. The clam is then placed on top of a ball of sushi rice and wrapped with a strip of seaweed.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound clams, shucked and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup chopped shrimp
  • 1/4 cup chopped crabmeat
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 sheet of nori (seaweed)
  • Instructions

    1. In a large bowl, combine the clams, onion, celery, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, carrots, mushrooms, shrimp, and crabmeat.

    2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper. Pour the sauce over the clam mixture and stir to combine.

    3. In a medium saucepan, combine the sushi rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18 minutes.

    4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.

    5. In a small bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Pour the vinegar mixture over the cooked rice and stir to combine.

    6. To assemble the stuff clam nigiri, wet your hands with water. Take a small handful of sushi rice and form it into a ball. Place a spoonful of the clam mixture on top of the rice ball. Wrap the rice ball with a strip of nori.

    7. Serve the stuff clam nigiri immediately.
